ANSWERING THE CALL Isaiah 6:8 states: "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, here am I; send me." Isaiah's response without hesitation is so profound. Answering the call of the Lord is not an easy thing to do. We can become overwhelmed by the enormity of the task that God has laid before us. But if God calls, will you be courageous enough to answer? Will you say, "Lord here am I, send me?" Even if it costs you all?
SCRIPTURE FOR STUDY: PHILIPPIANS 3:14 "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus."
LORD, SEND ME The call to follow Christ does cost you all. All of your devotion and all of your obedience. I learned this first hand when God called me to be a missionary. No, I don't know where my calling will lead but I am learning that as I yield obediently to God he is faithful and he will order my steps and direct my path... I encourage you to answer the call wholeheartedly, no matter where it may lead. Nothing can compare to the adventures that come in a life that is broken, willing and obedient...

NICARAGUA
MARCH 2006

 

 In March 2006 I took my first steps of obedience towards my calling. I went to Nicaragua and participated in a medical missions trip. This was one of the scariest and most rewarding experiences of my life. I knew nothing about the group that I traveled with and I did not know any of my travel companions.  My phone did not work and I had extremely limited access to my family and friends who I am typically in contact with on a daily basis. I quickly learned to lean on God and him alone for companionship, friendship, guidance and direction. What a great experience it was!
