CHAMPIONS OF PURITY
DEVOTIONS
SEEKING
THE FACE OF GOD
Our goal in life should always be to seek God as if we were seeking water in the desert. Take a moment and imagine yourself lost in the desert or even on a remote island. You have nothing with you but the clothes on your back. Hmm, now what? What do you do?
Where to you turn?
Well, the only one that could possibly keep me from falling apart in this type of situation is God. In this situation most people would beg, plead and pray as if your life depended on it. Why?
Because it does!
SCRIPTURE FOR STUDY: MATTHEW 6:33
Even in our daily lives we need God just as desperately as if we were stranded on an island or in the desert without water. He is our living water. Only he can quench the longings in our hearts and the thirst of our soul. Only he can be the answer to every question in your life and the hope for a better tomorrow.
Only he can provide you with inner peace when there's a raging storm around you. Only he can be the lamp to your feet, the light to your path and the compass that we need when we are wandering in our deserted places (Psalms 119:105).
I pray that you would seek God in a new way.
Allow him to fill the empty places in your life and to quench the longings in your soul.
PASSIONATELY
SEEKING GOD
In Psalms 27:4&5, David said "One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock." Do your desires reflect those of King David? Do you seek after the Lord so that you too may dwell in His house all the days of your life? Do you want to experience the power and presence of God in your life? How much of God do you really want? Psalms 84:2 states that "My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God." Are you desperate and passionate enough to seek hard for the presence of the Lord no matter what the cost?
Taking time for the greatest relationship you will ever have...
As with any relationship, the best way to get to know someone is by spending time with them. Have you ever taken time to look at the definition of devotion? Well, basically devotion is selfless affection or dedication. So how can you build a relationship if you are not dedicated to spending time with the one whom you desire to know more deeply? Well, you can't! The fact is every relationship in life takes time, hard work, tears, sweat and if you are wise, prayer. Our relationship with the Lord is no different. God is not some obscure, unreachable power in the heavenlies. He is a very real God whose deepest desire is for us to reach out to Him just for more of Him. He wants us to seek his presence. I Thessalonians 5:17 states "Pray without ceasing." So if you really want more of Him and if you have the passion and dedication, you will seek God daily because you know that it is His desire that you experience more of His presence...
SO, WHAT WILL YOU DO?
ADMIT. BELIEVE. CONFESS.
If you truly are serious about accepting this gift, I must warn you. It is not something that should be taken lightly and God is not a play toy or your personal genie in a bottle. Christ's sacrifice is truly amazing and he should be reverenced, worshiped, praised, thanked and honored for all of the many great things that he has done. Accepting his gift will not bring perfection to your life, but I can guarantee that no matter what you go through, no matter how difficult or impossible it may seem, Christ will be there. He is true to his word and his word states that "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." (Hebrews 13:5)
Christ will bring peace, comfort, joy, calmness and fulfillment to your life.
